The core of the role
You are the technical link between engineering and production. You ensure that 3D models, production drawings, item structures, bills of materials and revisions are consistent, and that our own production team and international production partners always have the right information to work with.
Role and main responsibility
- Developing designs and technical sketches into complete 3D models, assemblies and production drawings.
- Ensuring that drawings, bills of materials, item structures, materials and revisions are technically correct and consistent with one another.
- Preparing projects for production and providing technical approval.
- Assessing manufacturability and actively improving designs and production methods.
- Maintaining technical coordination between engineering, production planning, purchasing, production and international production partners.
- Contributing ideas on standardization, automation and further improvements to the engineering and production planning process.
What will you do?
- Independently create models and detailed designs in 3D CAD, preferably Autodesk Inventor.
- Create and manage assembly, detail and production drawings.
- Generate, check and manage bills of materials (BOM’s) and item structures.
- Record and maintain engineering and production data in Ridder iQ.
- Check and process technical changes and revisions.
- Answer and resolve technical questions from production.
- Coordinate technical matters with international production partners regarding manufacturability, documentation, changes and progress.
- Support purchasing, production, project management and sales with technical questions.
- Review drawings and support or guide fellow drafters where needed.
What do you bring?
We are looking for someone who sees beyond the drawing. You understand how a product is made, recognize practical production bottlenecks and take responsibility for the technical quality of the entire handover to production.
- Education – A technical MBO-4 or HBO qualification, for example in Mechanical Engineering or a comparable field.
- Experience – Preferably at least 5 years of relevant experience as a drafter, mechanical engineer, design engineer and/or production planner.
- 3D CAD – Extensive experience with 3D CAD. Experience with Autodesk Inventor is a definite advantage.
- Production knowledge – Knowledge of metalworking, sheet metal, welded structures, mechanical engineering or comparable technical production processes.
- Bills of materials / ERP – Experience with BOM’s, item structures and an ERP system. Experience with Ridder iQ is a definite advantage.
- International coordination – Comfortable communicating about technical matters with external and international production partners.
- Languages – Dutch is the working language. English is an advantage; knowledge of Romanian is an additional advantage.
Who are you?
- Accurate and organized, with an eye for detail én for the bigger picture.
- Practical and accustomed to thinking in terms of solutions.
- Independent, but proactive about coordinating with others when needed.
- Able to set priorities and oversee multiple projects at once.
- A strong communicator with colleagues, suppliers and production partners.
- Willing to take responsibility for the quality of drawings, bills of materials and technical approval.
- Curious about opportunities to further automate engineering and production planning.
What do we offer?
- An independent technical role with plenty of scope for initiative and responsibility.
- A competitive salary appropriate to your education, experience and level of entry.
- Good additional benefits.
- 24 vacation days and 7 ATV days designated by Discom for full-time employment.
- Training and development opportunities.
- Direct contact with engineering, production, purchasing and international production partners.
- The opportunity to help further standardize and automate our engineering processes.
- An experienced and committed team with direct communication and extensive technical expertise.
- Opportunities to progress into a technical leadership or coordinating role within engineering and production planning.
